Medication-related harm intervention wins $1.5 million funding

A Gold Coast Health team will implement a novel intervention to reduce medication-related harm after securing almost $1.5 million from the Medical Research Future Fund to investigate how to decrease medication-related harm following discharge from hospital.


Dialysis care on wheels to hit the Gold Coast

Gold Coasters with chronic kidney disease will soon have access to dialysis treatment closer to home thanks to $1.6 million in Palaszczuk Government funding.

The Big Red Kidney Bus will be equipped with three haemodialysis spaces and start travelling throughout the Gold Coast in mid-2023.

This 18-month pilot program between Queensland Health and Kidney Health Australia will provide more accessible treatment and teach patients how to carry out dialysis at home.

Healing Inspired Murals for Robina Hospital

 

Gold Coast artist Melony Gordon drew on both her indigenous heritage and Lived Experience when she was invited to bring her creative flair to the Crisis Stabilisation Unit at Robina Hospital.

Melony and her Father and Mentor, Tony Gordon (also an artist), worked together to create Yalburro’angabah – a place to become happy/content. The murals have transformed the corridor, waiting area and outdoor courtyard to create a more modern, soothing environment for patients dealing with mental health issues.
