Advanced practice

Nurse practitioners

We have various opportunities available for nurse practitioners to work across multiple specialties, and we support their development through to an advanced practice level.

‘The basis of advanced practice is the high degree of knowledge, skill and experience applied in the nurse-patient/client-relationship in order to achieve optimal outcomes through critical analysis, problem solving and accurate decision-making’
(Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, 2013).

A nurse practitioner (NP) is a highly skilled registered nurse, who holds a Master of Nursing Degree, and has been endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Nurse practitioners have an extended scope of practice that includes applying their nursing knowledge and skills to comprehensive clinical practice.
