Music programs

The Creative Health Hub brings music into our hospitals to uplift, soothe and connect. From daily piano sessions to live performances in wards and public spaces, our music programs are designed to enhance wellbeing for patients and their families, and staff alike.

The Piano Project

One of our longest-running music initiatives, the Piano Project brings live sessions to the hospital foyers at Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital.

The program is proudly supported by more than 50 staff and community members who volunteer their time to play, helping to ease anxiety, lift spirits and create a more human-centred healthcare experience. To join to program, email us.

More musical moments

In addition to the Piano Project, the Creative Health Hub presents a range of live music initiatives across the year:

  • Musicians in Clinical Spaces: Visiting performers bring music and music therapy to patients on hospital wards.
  • Afternoons in the Atrium: Special harp performances for ICU patients and their families at GCUH.
  • Pop-Up Concerts and Events: Including community bands, youth ensembles and carols during the festive season.

These music programs go beyond entertainment. They are evidence-based, non-pharmacological interventions proven to support emotional wellbeing, reduce stress and improve the overall experience of care.

If you would like to register for our Piano Project or learn more about how music is integrated into our services, email us at GCH.CreativeHealth@health.qld.gov.au
