Care in the hospital

Sometimes young people require more intensive care than can be provided within the community. We have two inpatient units that are able to provide this support.

Wattle Unit (Under 18 years)

The Wattle Unit at Robina Hospital is an eight bed inpatient unit that provides specialist mental health care for children and adolescents usually between the age of 12-17 years who are experiencing severe and/or complex mental health needs and require intensive inpatient treatment.

Young people who are admitted to our unit may experience challenges including but not limited to:

  • depression,
  • anxiety,
  • eating disorders,
  • psychotic disorders,
  • other symptoms that impact their functioning.

During an admission, our staff will work closely with young people and their families/carers to develop individualised care plans that will assist the young person with their journey to recovery.
