Acute Care Treatment - Community

Who we are   

Acute Care Treatment (ACT) Community provides specialist mental health crisis and acute care services for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or acute mental health concern. 

What we do   

This service operates seven days a week from 8.30am to 10pm. 

ACT-community: provides short-term community-based intensive care to meet individuals’ needs in the community 

ACT-Recovery: provides recovery-orientated community based follow up for individuals who have been discharged from acute mental health inpatient unit and ensure a smooth transition to ongoing care to be provided by primary care services i.e. GP/Private Psychiatrist 

ACT-Nurse Practitioner/s: specialist roles that liaise closely with NGO that delivers The Way Back Support Service and assists the community to access the ACT team services and crisis support 

Who can access this service   

Our services are designed for individuals in need of acute mental health care, those recently discharged from inpatient settings, and anyone experiencing a mental health crisis, within the Gold Coast region. The ACT Team focuses on supporting individuals 18 years of age and older, while those under 18 years of age are connected to our Child and Youth Mental Health Service. 

We provide services across the Gold Coast.   

How to access this service 

Current patients of Gold Coast Health’s mental health services can be referred by their treating teams into this service. New referrals into Gold Coast Health’s mental health services are through 1300 MH CALL on 1300 64 22 55. When you call this number, you will speak to a health professional who will ask you some questions to ensure we find the right service for you.
