Coomera Hospital

New Coomera Hospital updated under revised masterplan

The new Coomera Hospital will be delivered with at least 600 overnight beds, as part of the Queensland Government’s Hospital Rescue Plan program to strengthen health infrastructure planning and delivery across the state.

The completed masterplan reflects sustained growth in the northern corridor and confirms Coomera’s role as a cornerstone of the region’s long-term health infrastructure.

Construction works for the new Coomera Hospital will ramp up in the second half of 2026, with the first beds scheduled for completion in 2031

Extensive re-planning and redesign means procuring contractors to deliver the first stage will begin early in the new year before main construction activities kick off.

The first stage will deliver 400 beds, an emergency department, operating theatres, maternity and special care nursery and mental health inpatient units.

The second stage will add an extra 200 beds, day surgery facilities and other services such as renal dialysis, oncology, a minor injuries clinic and palliative care unit.

Once built, the Coomera Hospital will also include multi-storey carparking and well-planned connections to public transport to make it easier for patients, visitors and staff travelling to and from the facility.

The new Coomera Hospital is a core part of the Queensland Government’s HRP to deliver more than 2,600 new beds across the state.

Stage one early works are already underway on the Coomera site and planning for the expanded facility will continue in partnership with Health Infrastructure Queensland

Existing insights from Project User Groups and other clinical engagement activities will help guide the next stage of development.

The masterplan is a fully-funded and credible plan backed by the necessary funding and support that consolidates vital healthcare services at a purpose-built site to cater to this very fast-growing part of the south east corner.

More beds at the new Coomera Hospital will provide care closer to home while taking pressure off the busy local health system.

Location: George Alexander Way, Coomera.

New Coomera Hospital design

Multiplex Constructions was appointed as the Managing Contractor for the new Coomera Hospital in June 2023. The project team has commenced schematic design phase, expanding upon earlier high-level concept designs. This will be followed by detailed design. Before the main construction phase can begin, the schematic and detailed design phases of the project and a value-for-money guaranteed construction price need to be agreed and completed.
