Completion of the Concept Design phase for the new Coomera Hospital marks a significant planning milestone in delivering improved health services for the rapidly growing northern Gold Coast community.
This milestone represents an important step forward in progressing a contemporary hospital that meets current and future healthcare needs.
The design has been refined following the Queensland Government’s detailed independent review, addressing earlier planning gaps, including bed capacity, service provision and supporting clinical infrastructure such as pharmacy, pathology and outpatient services.
The new design at Coomera includes:
The design works in with the project’s staged rollout, with stage one to deliver a fully operational 400-bed hospital by 2031, with structural provisions built in from the outset to accommodate stage two of the development including an additional 200 beds by 2032.
Design will continue to evolve as the project progresses through the next phase.
At peak construction, the project is expected to support around 1,000 workers on site.
The Coomera Hospital milestone forms part of broader health infrastructure planning and delivery across Queensland.
