Susie's kindness and creativity brings joy to the community

Susie Mac is a talented Currumbin artist who has been using her art to connect with her creative spirit during very difficult times.

Susie is a cancer patient who has kindly shared some of her works with us to brighten the halls of Robina Hospital for other patients and visitors.

“It takes my mind away into artist mode and off my problems," she said.

Her art has been demonstrated at the Gold Coast show, fills homes and businesses across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia, and you’ll spot plenty of her pieces down at the Currumbin RSL.

The diversity of Susie’s pieces highlights the breadth of her talent.

“I love trying new types of art and very much love abstract and knife painting," she said.

More than just an artist, Susie is also an active and influential member of the community. She volunteers to teach art at the Uniting Church Elanora, gives talks at morning teas and business events, and supports fundraising efforts for Women’s Cancer Support Group Gold Coast.

Sandra Johnston, Founder of the Women’s Cancer Support Group Gold Coast, said that Susie’s tenacity has remained throughout her health battle.

“Susie is such a beautiful soul. She’s still working hard for various causes despite being so unwell with her treatments," Sandra said.

“Her fundraising efforts with the Currumbin RSL saw her donate an incredible $8500 to our support group. This has allowed us to provide so many items to support women going through the same health struggles as Susie".

Susie’s paintings express such joy, a true reflection of Susie’s warm and cheerful spirit.

We thank Susie for offering her beautiful works to grace the halls of Robina Hospital. They bring happiness and inspiration to the many people who visit the hospital.
