The unit provides care for minor injuries requiring surgical intervention or elective surgical procedures.
C2W also provides care for pre and post-operative gastrointestinal patients as well as Gastroenterology patients. The hours of operation are 24 hours 7 days a week.
The short stay Post-operative patients are aimed to be discharged during a 23 hour admission facilitated by Criteria Led Discharge.
Patients are admitted under specific surgical teams.

The prime function of Short Stay Surgical inpatient unit is to provide quality-nursing care to short stay pre/post-operative patients as well as short and long stay gastroenterology and gastrointestinal patients. It has two subsidiary functions including the provision of health care to patients with acute surgical conditions and surgical injuries and to provide health care, advice and provide post-surgery education for patients with a large range of surgical conditions/operations.
Our unit comprises 62 staff consisting of a Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurses, Clinical Facilitator, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Assistant in Nursing, Administration Staff and Environmental Services Officers.
