Mental Health Research

Gold Coast Health is dedicated to achieving translational research outcomes by embedding evidence-based models of care, engaging people with lived experience throughout the research journey and ultimately improving health outcomes.

We are dedicated to cultivating research that drives innovation, evaluation, and research within the MH-CARES Framework:

  • Mood Disorders: neurostimulation and novel treatments for treatment-resistant depression
  • Holistic and integrated care: evaluate existing models of holistic and integrated mental healthcare
  • Crisis Reform: a responsive, effective, compassionate and connected crisis system across the Gold Coast region
  • All of Lifespan and All of community approaches, including addressing mental health disparities in diverse populations (e.g., LGBTIQ, culturally and linguistically diverse populations, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).
  • Recovery: recovery-orientated care
  • Empower: include lived experience in all aspects of design, implementation, and evaluation of services and encourage peer worker-led research to ensure co-design
  • Suicide prevention: explore how technology and machine learning can be leveraged for continuous monitoring and evaluation of suicidal presentations to ED.

By collaborating with universities, healthcare providers, and research institutions, we ensure our studies are comprehensive and impactful.

Our commitment to evidence-based practice drives continuous improvement in mental health services.
