Who we are
The Melaleuca Acute Adult Mental Health Unit is a 24-bed facility at Gold Coast University Hospital for adults who are 25 to 65 years of age experiencing acute mental health conditions that can no longer be safely supported in the community setting.
Our multidisciplinary team includes nurses, psychiatrists, registrars, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers lived experience (peer) and carer peer workers, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers.
What we do
Our unit offers high-quality, acute inpatient mental health services with a range of therapeutic interventions. We focus on helping consumers and their families understand and manage mental health conditions, while providing education and interventions that align with individuals' recovery goals.
Our unit has strong partnerships with community services, including government and non-government organisations (NGOs) to support transitions between hospital and community based care.
