Who we are   

The community-based Gold Coast Intellectual and Developmental Disability Mental Health Service (GCIDDMHS) provides specialist healthcare to young people and adults with complex neurodevelopmental conditions, such as intellectual disability, autism, congenital neurocognitive conditions, who present with co-occurring mental health disorders.  

What we do   

The team works in collaboration with individuals, their support network and other mental health professionals to ensure that the individual’s health needs are met. 

Thespecialist team will work with the primary treating team to provide additional support to address the behavioural, mental, emotional, or sensory complex issues related to the intellectual or developmental disability. 

The team aims to support people to remain in the community and avoid hospital admissions by providing a timely response to care, focused assessment, and intervention, together with short-term treatment and support for carers.  

Who can access this service?  

Current patients of Gold Coast Health’s mental health services with complex neurodevelopmental conditions, such as intellectual disability, autism, congenital neurocognitive conditions.

How to access this service  

Current patients of Gold Coast Health’s mental health services can be referred by their treating teams into this service. New referrals into Gold Coast Health’s mental health services are through 1300 MH CALL on 1300 642 255. When you call this number, you will speak to a health professional who will ask you some questions to ensure we find the right service for you.
