Our Paediatric surgery team includes surgeons, nurses and allied health. They give care for children with some surgical health problems. These problems include:
- Skin burns
- Urology (urinary tract problems)
- Thoracic (chest) surgery
- General surgery
We work with other health staff in the hospital to help children. This includes the emergency department, Children’s Inpatient Unit, Children's Critical Care Unit and others. We also work with Queensland Children’s Hospital to help children with complex surgical problems.
Children’s outpatient surgery clinics are on the ground floor of D block. Children having surgery may go to different places in the hospital. This will depend on what surgery they have. Children may go to the:
- Children’s Inpatient Unit for admission,
- Children’s Day Admissions Unit, or
- Day Procedure Unit on Level 1.
We provide care for children with surgical problems in the Gold Coast and from Northern NSW.
Referrals for paediatric burns should be emailed to gchchildburns@health.qld.gov.au including details of the type of injury and treatments already provided, with photographs pre and post treatment (with the consent of the family).
