Care at the end of life

Caring for people at the end of life is about ensuring the best possible quality of life, with a focus on:

  • symptom control
  • independence
  • emotional wellbeing
  • planning for the future (including appointing substitute decision makers and completing documentation like an advance health directive).

Care at the end of life may be provided in your home, hospital, palliative care unit, a residential aged care facility or hospice, and is available for people at any age.
