Our anaesthetic department provides anaesthesia and pain management services across 3 hospitals in the Gold Coast area. Comprising of over 70 specialists and 50 trainees, we cover around 30 operating theatres, 3 interventional radiology/hybrid suites, and a variety of other procedural rooms such as MRI, endoscopy, and interventional cardiology.
Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) is the largest facility in our service, with 20 operating theatres, plus interventional and hybrid suites. GCUH is a level one trauma centre and has the busiest emergency department in Queensland. All major tertiary services are onsite including cardiothoracic, paediatric surgery (PICU and NICU) and neurosurgery. We also have a busy obstetric unit with 5200 deliveries per year. Our service also covers Robina Hospital and the Varsity Lakes Day Hospital.
The Gold Coast Health service is an accredited training provider with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). Find out more about ANZCA training.
