Who we are
The Gold Coast Eating Disorders Specialist Service (GC-EDSS) is a specialist, multidisciplinary eating disorder clinic servicing the Gold Coast region. The role of the service is to provide assessment, evidence-based intervention and consultation for adults experiencing an eating disorder on the Gold Coast.
What we do
- Assessment clinic: A thorough and specialised multi-disciplinary assessment of eating disorder behaviour and cognitions, followed by diagnostic clarification and recommendations
- Brief Intervention Pathway: Up to five multi-disciplinary (e.g., psychiatrist, dietitian, psychologist) psychoeducation and intervention sessions
- Long-term psychotherapy: GC-EDSS offers evidence-based therapeutic intervention for adults with an eating disorder diagnosis. Currently the therapies offered are CBT-e, MANTRA or SSCM
- Dietitian assessment and recommendations
- Family support and education
- Link with local private providers
- Consultation and liaison with other members of the treating team
Who can access this service
Our services are available to adults over 18 years of age who are living in the Gold Coast region and been diagnosed with an eating disorder or with symptoms consistent with an eating disorder.
How to access this service
Current patients of Gold Coast Health’s mental health services can be referred by their treating teams into this service.
New referrals into Gold Coast Health’s mental health services are through The Acute Care team (1300 MH CALL or 1300 64 22 55). When you call this number, you will speak to a health professional who will ask you some questions to ensure we find the right service for you.
