Our Children’s surgery team includes surgeons and nurses. They give care for children with surgical health problems. These problems might include:
- Skin burns
- Urology (urinary tract problems)
- Thoracic (chest) surgery
- General surgery
We work with other health staff in the hospital to help children. This includes the emergency department, Children’s inpatient unit and others. We also work with Queensland Children’s Hospital to help children with complex health problems.
Children’s outpatient surgery clinics are on the ground floor of D block. Children that have surgery may go to different places in the hospital. This will depend on what surgery they have. Children may go to the
Children’s Inpatient Unit for admission, Children’s Day Unit, or Day of Surgery Unit on Level 1.
We provide care for children with surgical problems in the Gold Coast and from Northern NSW.
External referrals for paediatric burns should be emailed to gchchildburns@health.qld.gov.au including details of the injury and management provided, and photographs pre and post debridement (with the consent of the family).
