Gold Coast Health has won a national health industry award for embedding a culture of transformation to support frontline staff in delivering better health outcomes for patients.

The health service’s Strategy, Transformation and Major Capital division collected the Non-clinical Service Delivery category win at last month’s Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) annual awards ceremony.

Chief Executive Ron Calvert said it was valuable recognition for the health service’s journey to deliver world class services.

“I have come to recognise that transforming healthcare is essential for healthcare globally not just in Australia,” Mr Calvert said.

“Without the support of the Transformation teams, the leadership of our executive and the enthusiasm from project leads working in partnership with our clinical staff, it will not be possible for us to continue to deliver world class services.”

The Transformation Delivery unit has been able to identify and support several transformation initiatives under four key ambitions, creating robust governance and building project and change management capability across the organisation. Engaging with staff has been instrumental through showcase innovations, improvement and success outcomes across the transformation program.

Strategy, Transformation and Major Capital Executive Director Sandip Kumar said he was extremely proud of what had been achieved over the past two years.

“Two years ago we launched our transformation program and framework, with a focus on redesigning the health system in which we operate in, tackling some of hardest challenges including how we continue to safely and efficiently respond to service demand increases, how we can use technology to improve care delivery, staff shortages and care navigation, to how can we transition more care into the community and home environment,” Mr Kumar said.

“Our division feels privileged to support frontline staff in delivering better health outcomes for our patients.”

The ACHS Awards Ceremony 2022 celebrated the remarkable quality and safety initiatives in healthcare.
