Sleep Studies

Sleep Studies is for inpatient and outpatient services for the diagnosis, investigation and management of respiratory disorders, respiratory failure and sleep disorders. Types of studies provided are Diagnostic Polysomnography, Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and Bilevel positive airway pressure (BPAP) studies, Multiple sleep latency test (MSLT).

Current routine waiting times are six to eight months, for specific Sleep Clinic waiting times please contact the Booking and Referral Centre (BARC) on (07) 5687 0985.

Referral process for consultation and assessment

Complete Sleep service referral form, then fax to BARC on (07) 5687 4497 or via internal mail.

Patients will be seen in the Sleep Clinic at GCUH OPD, Level 1, by a sleep physician.

Patients may be requested to attend an overnight study for further investigations.

Queensland Health Sleep Disorders Program

The "Queensland Health Sleep Disorder Program" is government funded for CPAP and, or BPAP. For more information visit Sleep Disorder Program.

Program Qualifiers

  • Holder of a Queensland Resident Health care or Pension Care card
  • Able to provide a diagnosis and treatment success
  • Have met compliance in using CPAP for the period of two months
  • Personally own CPAP equipment.
