Mental Health Queensland Ambulance Service / Queensland Police Service Co-Responder Service

Who we are   

The Mental Health Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Police Service (QPS) Co-Responders provide support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and where an emergency services team has been requested to respond in the Gold Coast Health region (if the consumer meets certain criteria).

What we do   

ACT GCUH & Robina staff: We provide face to face, comprehensive mental health assessments, to individuals presenting to out Emergency Departments

ACT Mental Health Emergency Co-ordinator (MHECo): work in duality with the Emergency Medical Officer, providing mental health advice to appropriate access for care for those presenting to emergency with mental health problems

Who can access this service?   

The team provides support to individuals who experiencing a mental health crisis and problems, that have presented to the GCHHS Emergency Departments GCUH and Robina, focus on those referred to mental health team by Emergency Department clinicians.

How to access this service 

Emergency Department staff will make a referral to the Mental Health Team for those who presented to emergency with mental health problems and are medically well enough to participate in a mental health assessment.
