Mental Health Intellectual and Developmental Disability Service (MHIDDS)

Who we are

The Mental Health Intellectual and Developmental Disability Service (MHIDDS) is a multidisciplinary team operating from a person-centred, inclusive and rights-based approach in line with Gold Coast Health values. MHIDDS aims to improve access to specialist assessment, intervention, advice and support for mental health consumers with complex presentations and intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) diagnoses.

What we do

We provide consumers and their families/carers with specialist support including assessment, advice and interventions. Based at Varsity Lakes Day Hospital, we aim to prevent chronic issues from unnecessarily progressing and to improve quality of care. We work in collaboration with referring teams, consumers, their support network and other mental health professionals to improve the mental healthcare outcomes for this cohort of consumers.
