Exhibition celebrates International Women’s Day at Robina Hospital

The Creative Health Hub is marking International Women’s Day with a special art exhibition at Robina Hospital, celebrating the achievements and creative contributions of women across Gold Coast Health and the wider community.

International Women’s Day recognises women’s achievements, raises awareness of gender inequality and encourages action toward gender parity. This year’s exhibition reflects these principles by showcasing the work of female artists, including one familiar face to many staff and visitors.

Alisa Bray, Administration Officer for the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme and Reception at Robina Hospital, is among the featured artists. While many recognise Alisa for her welcoming presence at reception, fewer may know she is also a talented self-taught artist.

Alisa’s collection features detailed graphite sketches of vintage inspired avian studies on brown paper. Her work highlights delicate textures, subtle shadows and the quiet beauty of birds and natural forms, inviting viewers to slow down and appreciate the finer details of the natural world.

Through careful pencil work and considered composition, her pieces reflect themes of stillness, observation, and connection, encouraging viewers to find meaning in everyday moments.

“Working in the hospital, you see how important moments of calm and beauty can be”, Alisa said.

“Creating these drawings has been a way for me to share something peaceful with the staff, patients and families who pass through these spaces”.

The exhibition forms part of the Creative Health Hub’s ongoing commitment to supporting staff creativity and integrating the arts into healthcare environments. By providing opportunities for staff to share their creative talents, the initiative contributes to a workplace culture that values wellbeing, inclusion and self-expression.

The International Women’s Day exhibition will be on display throughout March in the main corridor at Robina Hospital, and staff are encouraged to take the opportunity to view the works and celebrate the diverse talents of their colleagues.
