Staff and visitors invited to experience “Surfing Yugambeh Country” at Robina Hospital

The Creative Health Hub is proud to showcase a vibrant new exhibition currently on display at Robina Hospital, featuring the work of award-winning artist Suzy Weeks.

Titled ‘Surfing Yugambeh Country’, the exhibition includes a series of surfboard style artworks, created as indigenous inspired digital media pieces. The collection celebrates the spirit of summer on the Gold Coast and invites viewers to reflect on themes of connection, care, healing and unity.

Suzy is a proud Biripi woman living on Yugambeh Country, and an autistic mixed media artist who works across a diverse range of mediums including paint, textiles, resin and 3D printing. Her creative practice is deeply connected to Country, self, culture and community, combining traditional indigenous art styles with contemporary and abstract techniques.

The Surfing Yugambeh Country series brings together representations of earth, sky, water, wildlife and people, highlighting the beauty of Yugambeh Country through storytelling, symbolism and colour. From golden beaches and stunning sunsets to moments of gathering and community, the works offer a joyful reminder of the importance of belonging and togetherness.

Suzy has been recognised for her work through a number of awards and achievements, including placing in the Griffith University First Nations Health Unit Art Prize and receiving recognition through local creative opportunities across the Gold Coast.

As part of her practice, Suzy enjoys using her art as a way to foster inclusion and connection, particularly with First Nations and neurodivergent communities.

Staff, patients and visitors are encouraged to stop by the Robina Hospital main foyer to view the exhibition and take a moment of reflection and inspiration while moving through the space.
