Measles Alert for Gold Coast

Gold Coast Public Health Unit is aware of a confirmed case of measles in a male from Adelaide who travelled to the Gold Coast and back.

The adult was exposed to the infection while overseas and was on the following flights: 

  • Flight JQ498 from Adelaide to Gold Coast on Tuesday 5 August departed 7:30 am
  • Flight JQ499 from Gold Coast to Adelaide on Tuesday 5 August departed 11:00 am

Measles is a highly contagious serious infection which can be associated with complications which can be severe. 

Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes and a red spotty rash. 

The best way to avoid measles is vaccination, with two doses needed to provide the best protection.
