Newly Qualified Nurses begin their careers at Gold Coast Health

Gold Coast Health has welcomed 52 new Registered Nurses to the team.

Gold Coast Health has welcomed more than 50 Newly Qualified Nurses (NQN) to our team in our latest intake of healthcare graduates.

Of the 52 Registered Nurses, 37 will commence their journey in the Nursing and Midwifery Staffing Unit (NMSU), while the remaining 15 will be spread across general Medical and Surgical areas.

Executive Director for Nursing, Midwifery and Patient Experience Matthew Lunn said he looks forward to seeing what the NQNs bring to the Health Service.

“As a tertiary hospital, we are committed to supporting our new graduates every step of the way,” Mr Lunn said.

“They will learn from some of the best nursing staff Gold Coast has to offer, and we have no doubt they will grow personally and professionally here.

“Our previous NQN cohorts have been outstanding, and we have no doubt this group will exceed our expectations.”

The cohort have now begun their roles across the Health Service after completing a two-week orientation where they meet their colleagues and receive mandatory and specialised training.

NQN Carly Williams says she is excited to begin in the NMSU at Robina Hospital.

Originally from California, USA, Carly said she has always been a nurse at heart, but it took a while to make it official.

“I used to work in corporate jobs, but I felt like something was missing,” Ms Williams said.

“I wasn’t fulfilled in my career. I’m naturally a people-person. I want to help others and serve the community, so I think nursing is a good fit for me.

“I hope I can show people that there is so much good around us.”
