Paediatrics is the medical care of infants, children and young people. There is a large general paediatric department at the Gold Coast University Hospital. Some paediatric doctors are trained to treat certain health problems. They are known as ‘paediatric subspecialists’.

If your child needs to see a paediatric subspecialist, your general paediatrician will give you a referral letter. If your child is in hospital, a paediatric subspecialist will help care for them if needed.
