What we do
The Multicultural Mental Health Coordinator (MMHC) program aims to increase cultural responsiveness of Gold Coast Health’s mental health, alcohol and other drugs services.
Our MMHCs promote culturally responsive mental health care to patients and families by providing direct consultation to clinicians working with consumers from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
MMHCs also provide workforce training and development and partner with local communities and organisations to contribute to community education and prevention, promotion and early intervention initiatives.
While the MMHCs do not provide interpreter services, they can support consumers and clinicians with information to access interpreter services.
Who can access this service?
This service works with all of Gold Cost Health’s mental health, alcohol and other drugs services. Local non-government organisation (NGO) leaders can also access a MMHC if they are seeking education and support with accessing and navigating mental health services.
How to access this service
Current patients of Gold Coast Health’s mental health services can be referred for support from our MMHCs via email or by phoning 0402 175 424 from 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
