Acute Care Team (1300 MH CALL)

Who we are

Our Acute Care Team (ACT) is the first point of contact for crisis and acute mental health care at Gold Coast Health. Phone 1300 MH CALL (1300 642 255). Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For mental health guidance and support, phone Head to Health on 1800 595 212 from 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday or visit www.HeadToHealth.gov.au.

What we do

When you call 1300 MH CALL (1300 642 255), you will speak with a trained mental health professional. We will assess your situation and provide advice and support for people in crisis. If needed, we will refer you to ongoing services and create a management plan for any immediate concerns. This may involve a mental health assessment, which can take approximately 15 to 30 minutes and determine which treatment or support option is best for you.

The ACT Crisis Care Coordinator (CCC), who works within the ACT 1300 MH CALL service, facilitates direct access to the Crisis Stabilisation Unit (CSU) for callers who meet certain criteria. The CSU is an Emergency Department alternative.

Who can access this service?

Our services are available to anyone in the Gold Coast region, including but not limited to people experiencing a mental health crisis, families and carers, and health professionals.
