Maternity Assessment Centre

The Maternity Assessment Centre (MAC) is a specialised service for women requiring urgent assessment from 20 weeks pregnancy.

Women do not need to phone first, just like the Emergency Department.

If any of these occur, present for assessment to the MAC – B Block, level 2 GCUH.

• If your waters break
• Vaginal bleeding occurs
• Baby is not moving as much as normal
• Regular contractions and you think you are in labour, or if worried about yourself or your baby for any other reason.

If you are less than 20 weeks pregnant and experiencing problems, please contact Early Pregnancy Assessment and Management Service, or present to the Emergency Department.
