Child and Youth Mental Health Access Team

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Access Team provides a telephone triage service for all new referrals received via telephone, fax, email or through the local Emergency Departments.

Following initial contact, a child or young person and their family may be offered an appointment for an initial assessment to gather more information or offer support during a crisis.

Alternatively, they may receive guidance on how to access other services in the community which will better suit their needs or be referred through to one of our continuing care teams or specialty services.

The service is available to children and young people up to 18 years old, who reside on the Gold Coast and are experiencing complex and severe mental health challenges.

Referrals to the CYMHS Access Team can be made by self, family member, doctor, school or other professionals. All new referrals should be directed through the Acute Care Team (1300 MH CALL). Existing referrals should contact the CYMHS Access Team directly on 07 5635 6392.
