It is a requirement of the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service volunteer program that you commit to a minimum of six months continuous volunteering on a weekly basis.

Conditions of becoming a volunteer

  • Ability to interact in a team
  • Ability to use initiative, take direction and work with limited supervision
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, visitors and staff
  • Ability to acquire a positive Criminal History Check
  • Ability to acquire a valid Working with Children Blue Card if required for the role
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Good communication skills
  • Independently comprehend policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand and respect privacy and confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Independently able to follow Hospital Emergency procedures
  • Independently work within Work Health & Safety Policies and Guidelines

Application Declarations

I have read the Volunteer Information Kit and that the information I have provided is true and correct. I agree to abide by the Queensland Government Code of Conduct, and the terms for becoming a Volunteer of the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.

I agree to attend the Health Service Orientation, work unit induction and any training necessary for me to successfully perform my volunteering role. I understand that training is mandatory and that I will be required to attend this training annually.

I will perform my duties in a responsible manner, and in accordance with the duty statement of my voluntary position.

YOUR PRIVACY: Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) is required to manage your personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 (Qld). GCHHS is collecting your personal information to assist with the initial appointment of volunteers and their ongoing management. Some of your personal information may be given to Human Resource Services who require your information for the purpose of managing our workforce and volunteers. Your information may only be disclosed with your consent, or if authorised by law. For more information please ask for a copy of the GCHHS Privacy Plan.
