About the alignment program
Gold Coast University Hospital is committed to supporting all GPs who wish to share care in maintaining their skills and familiarity with new protocols and approaches. The alignment program is designed to be as flexible as possible for busy GPs and to minimise time lost and risks inherent in delayed communication between GPs and the hospital, bookings and missing information.
GPs that participate in the Alignment Program will have access to:
- High quality education events
- Networking opportunities with a range of other maternity care providers
- Their details listed on a public website available to women looking for GP
providers of pregnancy care on the Gold Coast - Access to a range of online resources and tools
GPs participating in Alignment will commit to:
- Referrals with an agreed minimum amount of clinically relevant information to
facilitate safe provision of care. Please include copies of pathology and radiology reports in referrals. - Copying the antenatal clinic into pathology and radiology requests to fax 07 5687 7812. Urgent and abnormal results should be faxed to 07 5687 7812.
- Gold Coast Hospital Health Service maternity providers will also commit to copy the GP into pathology and radiology requests.
- Continuing professional development to support the provision of high quality
maternity care to women in the community.
To become an aligned Maternity Shared Care GP with GCUH, a GP must fulfil the
requirements listed below:
- GPs must be a registered medical practitioner in Australia with current medical indemnity insurance.
Qualified, registered and credentialed, with recency of practice maintained, as relevant to their profession/practice or GP completion of the Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG) and/or Certificate of Women’s Health (RANZCOG) is recommended (but not compulsory) for the provision of maternity care.
