Kamilaroi Elder Aunty Betty Scott is a proud mother of four, grandmother to 14, and great-grandmother to seven. She actively works to reconnect community members and younger generations to their cultural identity and country.
Aunty Betty has spent over 50 years fostering community connections, advocacy, and support systems on the Gold Coast. She empowers individuals and has helped support people facing family struggles, disability, and domestic violence. She established a culturally safe yarning circle at Centacare (Southport) which offers a dedicated space for healing, storytelling, and family support.
Committed to enhancing consumer care and experience, Aunty Betty has helped strengthen trust, cultural connection and partnerships between our First Nations community and Service providers. In addition to the CAG, she is also a Sistas Shawl BreastScreen Community Ambassador and active member of the Gold Coast Sistas Shawl Working Group, member of the GCPHN Community Advisory Council, Kalwun Elders Group, Karulbo Committee, Transforming E.D. towards Cultural Safety (TECS), and Executive First Nations Health Equity Committee.
