Alison Ewens is an accomplished health executive with more than 25 years of experience leading large tertiary healthcare organisations across Australia, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. She has also held executive leadership roles in local government and social care organisations.
She is recognised for her ability to lead large-scale operational and strategic transformation, build high-performing teams, and deliver sustainable improvements in patient outcomes, organisational performance and financial stewardship. She is passionate about developing future leaders, strengthening health system capability, and ensuring public health services remain responsive, sustainable and prepared to meet the evolving needs of the communities they serve.
As an Executive General Manager at Gold Coast Health, she leads a diverse portfolio of clinical and corporate services that are central to the delivery of integrated, patient-centred care. Her clinical responsibilities include Allied Health, Emergency Departments, Women’s, Newborn and Children Services, and Outpatient Services. She also oversees health service-wide functions including Performance, Data Operations, Health Strategy and Planning, and Service Improvement.
Through this broad portfolio, she provides strategic and operational leadership to improve access to care, enhance patient flow, and drive performance against key health system targets. She supports evidence-based decision-making through data and analytics and leads initiatives that strengthen service design, operational excellence and long-term health system sustainability.
In addition to her executive role, she serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Gold Coast Primary Health Network, contributing to the governance and strategic direction of the primary healthcare sector.
