Waratah Mental Health Inpatient Unit

Who we are

The Waratah Unit is an acute inpatient unit at Robina Hospital. Our 16-bed facility offers two pathways of care, supporting people 18 years of age and older experiencing acute mental health conditions that can no longer be safely supported in the community setting.

Our multidisciplinary team includes nurses, psychiatrists, registrars, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, lived experience (peer) and carer peer workers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers.

What we do

We provide intensive support through our eight Short Stay beds for people in mental health crisis, with identified factors likely to resolve within 72 hours.

Our eight Extended Treatment beds offer care for a more extended period. Our model focuses on recovery and trauma-informed care, supporting patients' sense of identity, role, and purpose beyond their mental illness.
