Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit

he standalone 24-bed Geriatric Evaluation Management (GEM) Unit on the Lower Ground level of H Block at Gold Coast University Hospital completes the 36-bed GEM service across H Block, providing additional capacity for multi-disciplinary geriatric evaluation and restorative care within a purpose-built environment.

Across four levels, H Block is Gold Coast Health’s 70-bed in-patient unit, located adjacent to Gold Coast University Hospital and is accessible via a linkway from the main hospital.

Together, these services provide our first dedicated inpatient older adult capability in a modern, purpose-built environment.
