Who we are
Gold Coast Eating Disorders Specialist Service (GC EDSS) is a multidisciplinary team which includes clinicians and doctors with specialist skills in assessing and treating eating disorders. The team consists of Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurse, Dietitians, Consultants and Registrars.
What we do
We provide specialist mental health care through comprehensive assessments and evidence-based interventions for individuals diagnosed with eating disorders or presenting with symptoms consistent with an eating disorder. GC EDSS works alongside the consumer’s family and carers, where appropriate.
GC EDSS provide brief intervention based on the individual consumer’s needs. This may include nutritional support from the dietitian, individual and family psychoeducation, and support connecting with private healthcare professionals. The primary evidence-based interventions that GC EDSS use are:
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorder (CBT-E)
- Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA) and
- Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM).
The intervention will be determined by individual needs and presenting concerns and will be discussed in collaboration with the individual and their family.
