Comprising of over 70 specialists and 50 trainees, we cover around 30 operating theatres, 3 interventional radiology/hybrid suites, and a variety of other procedural rooms such as MRI, endoscopy, and interventional cardiology.
Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) is the largest facility in our service, with 20 operating theatres, plus interventional and hybrid suites. GCUH is a level one trauma centre and has the busiest emergency department in Queensland. All major tertiary services are onsite including cardiothoracic, paediatric surgery (PICU and NICU) and neurosurgery. We also have a busy obstetric unit with 5200 deliveries per year. Our service also covers Robina Hospital and the Varsity Lakes Day Hospital.
The Gold Coast Health service is an accredited training provider with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). Find out more about ANZCA training.
We offer 8-12 provisional fellowship (PF) positions per year. The fellowships are general fellowships, except for one regional anaesthesia fellowship position. Please contact us if you are interested in further details about the positions.
Anaesthetic registrar positions are appointed through the Queensland Anaesthetic Rotational Training Scheme (QARTS). Details of the application process can be found here on the QARTS page.
