Proxima lease signed for Child Youth Mental Health Services

Site location for the upcoming Child Youth Mental Health Services at the Proxima building.

The Gold Coast Health's Child Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) is expanding to the Proxima building, with a planned opening in late 2025.

This relocation and expansion mark a transformative step in mental health care for young people and their families.

The new facility on Level 6 of the Proxima building, located within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, will provide approximately 1,400 square meters of purpose-built space designed to cater to the mental health needs of young people aged 0-25yrs and their families.

This investment is part of the Queensland Government’s $1.948 billion Better Care Together plan to improve mental health, alcohol and other drug services across the state.

The space aims to enhance community mental health services through thoughtful co-location and collaboratively designed, youth friendly mental health services.

It will deliver additional office and meeting spaces to support the continued growth and expansion of CYMHS, will provide 16 co-designed contemporary tertiary child and youth mental health treatment rooms, and optimise the existing available CYMHS clinical spaces at Robina Health Precinct.

The design focuses on mental health principles to create a warm, welcoming environment for young people facing mental health challenges.

It incorporates natural elements, fosters a sense of belonging and psychological safety, uses colour and light to promote calm, balances diverse needs and ensures a therapeutic setting for care.

This project reflects a commitment to improving mental health outcomes by fostering a supportive environment for young people experiencing mental health challenges and their families and the expanding CYMHS workforce.

Earlier this year, Proxima welcomed executive, management and administration staff from Level 4 at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) as well as Gold Coast Health Community Child Health from High Street in Southport.

As Gold Coast Health continues to grow and evolve, space has become increasingly sought-after across its buildings, particularly at the Gold Coast University (GCUH) and Robina Hospitals.

Located a short distance from GCUH on Frazer Street, Proxima is a purpose-built, private commercial development.
