Here's to diversity and its perfect ally - inclusion!

This week, we celebrated International Day of People with Disability, a day dedicated to recognising the contribution of people with disabilities with new call to action.

This year's theme was choose inclusion, reminding us that inclusion is a choice we make every day.

As part of our Always Care philosophy and commitment to fostering inclusion, our Diversity and Inclusion team launched Gold Coast Health's Diverse Abilities Ally Pins.

Created by our Diverse Abilities Network, the pin features a flower design, with coloured petals representing the diversity of disability and driving home the message of inclusion for all.

These pins are more than just a symbol; they pledge to be an ally, advocate for others, and show up for our staff, consumers, and the local community.

Diversity and Inclusion Specialist Chantelle Roffey is a proud ally of our Diverse Abilities Network and proudly displays her pin on her lanyard.

"This year, we called upon our workforce to become diverse abilities allies and challenge barriers for a more inclusive and accessible workplace," she said.

"We all have a role to play in inclusion and encourage all staff to build their disability confidence and demonstrate allyship to our staff, consumers and the local community."

We are committed to continuing to remove barriers and improve access and inclusion so that all people with disabilities who walk through the doors of Gold Coast Health can thrive.
