Congratulations to Gold Coast Health’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Medical Director, Professor Fabricio Da Silva Costa, on his recent election as Honorary Secretary of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG).
ISUOG is a charitable organisation and the leading international society of experts in ultrasound for obstetrics and gynaecology.
Its mission focuses on improving women's health through high-quality ultrasound education, research and professional development, with the vision of every woman globally having access to ultrasound.
As Honorary Secretary, Professor Da Silva Costa will oversee governance matters, including society bylaws, elections, nominations and key organisational decisions before they are considered by the Executive Committee and Board.
“This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the governance and future direction of ISUOG while supporting education and women's health globally,” Professor Da Silva Costa said.
“I’m also incredibly proud to be the first person from the Southern Hemisphere elected to this position since the society began in 1991.”
Professor Da Silva Costa is a long-standing member of the society, already dedicating more than 12 years through various leadership and committee roles and currently serves on its Board of Trustees. He has previously served as Chair of the Scientific Committee, helping organise ISUOG’s annual World Congresses and overseeing scientific programs attended by 2,000 to 3,000 delegates from more than 100 countries.
Professor Da Silva Costa was recently elected to the position during the society’s recent World Congress in London, where he began the two-year term.
With more than 17,000 members across 165 countries the society hosts the largest international congress in the field, as well as delivering extensive education and training programs.
