A board experienced in health, business, education, and law has been appointed to govern the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (HHS).
The Board sets the strategic direction and oversees the management of the HHS in its delivery of healthcare under the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women Shannon Fentiman announced the newly appointed board, which will be led by Professor Cindy Shannon AM.
Professor Shannon brings a wealth of experience as an educator to the position. She has a life-long commitment to improving the lives of First Nations people and has been recognised several times for her contributions to Indigenous health.
She is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Indigenous, Diversity and Inclusion) at Griffith University and an Emeritus Professor with the University of Queensland.
Cindy has led major reforms in health and played a key role in establishing the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health in South-East Queensland.
Professor Shannon is joined by new members Adjunct Professor Michael Hogan and Daile Kelleher.
Mr Hogan is an experienced legal practitioner, senior executive and educator and has extensive experience in government and statutory boards.
Ms Kelleher brings a wealth of experience in women’s health and is the current Chief Executive Officer of Children by Choice, a Queensland-based not-for-profit organisation.
Ms Colette McCool PSM and Professor Nicholas Zwar have renewed their membership for another term and join three continuing members still within their current term.

Outgoing Board Chair Ian Langdon dedicated the last 12 years to our health service and the Gold Coast community. He has been instrumental in driving Gold Coast Health's vision to become a world-class health service and has shaped the positive and inclusive workplace culture.
During his time as inaugural chair, Ian advocated for a wide range of services and initiatives that have changed the way we care for our community.
