2025 Research, Innovation and Transformation Showcase

The 2025 Research, Innovation and Transformation Showcase will illuminate research, innovation and transformation delivery and how they connect in effecting sustainable healthcare improvement, displayed through live demonstration, static displays and enlightening presentations.

The day will culminate in celebration of excellence with the announcement of the recipients of the 2024 Clinician Researcher Fellowships and annual recognition awards. 

Date: Thursday, 20 March 2025

Venue: Ground Level, Gold Coast University Hospital, E Block, Pathology and Education (PED) Building.

Research Abstracts 

Gold Coast Health researchers are invited to submit an abstract of original work for consideration as a poster at the 2025 Research, Innovation and Transformation Showcase to be held on Thursday 20 March 2025. 

Imagine  |  Investigate  |  Implement is the theme for the 2025 Research, Innovation and Transformation Showcase and we request that abstracts fit within this theme and are aligned to the Future Care pillar of the Gold Coast Health Strategic Plan 2024 – 2028 (G28).

We encourage submissions from novice to experienced researchers, which might include staff completing an RHD and health professionals engaged in research in addition to their clinical practice. Studies must be relevant to the Gold Coast Health service, patients, families and/or the broader Gold Coast community.

How to submit

To submit a Research Abstracts please complete the application form via SmartyGrants. 

Abstract submissions will open Tuesday, December 17, 2024, and are due by 11.59pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Submissions will not be accepted after the closing deadline.

Initiative Summary

Initiative Summary

Gold Coast Health leaders, clinicians and project managers are invited to submit an initiative summary for consideration as a poster at the 2025 Gold Coast Health Research, Innovation and Transformation Showcase to be held on Thursday 20 March 2025.  

We encourage submissions featuring change initiatives, proof of concepts, models of care, service improvements or digital products or projects that demonstrate innovation or transformation activity and success across Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. Initiatives may be in discovery, design, delivery or implemented and transitioned to business as usual within the past 12 months.  

Individuals and teams may submit more than one initiative summary for consideration.

Gold Coast Health Research Innovation and Transformation Awards

The strategic goal of the Gold Coast Health Research Innovation and Transformation Awards is to recognise, reward, and thereby encourage excellence in impactful research, innovation or transformation activity at Gold Coast Health.

Research Award categories are aligned to the Research Strategy, to stimulate excellence and reflect national research directions, such as the increasing focus on service and translation activities. The awards support a growing research culture at Gold Coast Health and are an opportunity to identify what we value in research.

The Health System Transformation Award aligns with our Strategic Plan 2024-2028 (G28) objective to drive future-focused change. This award fosters a culture of transformation and innovation at Gold Coast Health.

The Collaborative Delivery Award is a new award which acknowledges demonstrated collaboration and partnership in designing and delivering research, innovation or transformation. It recognises teams or organisations that have partnered with Gold Coast Health to deliver solutions to healthcare problems and to achieve sustainable impacts for patients, staff, systems or finance.

Award recipients will be honoured at the 2025 Gold Coast Health Research, Innovation and Transformation Showcase to be held 20 March 2025.

Clinician Researcher Fellowships

2024 Clinician Researcher Fellowships

The Clinician Researcher Fellowships will provide health professionals with the opportunity to pursue research, whilst continuing to work clinically. The Fellowship program is open to staff across all healthcare disciplines and will provide for 0.4 FTE of three years’ duration for emerging and early career clinician researchers with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
