Early Parenting Day Stay (support for recognising baby cues, sleeping and settling) Paediatric
Useful Management Information
- Our Child and Family Health service offers Early Parenting Day Stay appointments, this is an extended appointment with our Nurses, where they can support parent/ carers if they experience difficulties understanding their baby’s cues, which is often related to sleep, settling and tired cues.
- The Nurse will offer practical assistance for those parents experiencing more challenging parenting concerns (this can include feeding, sleep/settling, parent/ carer anxiety and/ or depression, where a longer period with a Child and Family Health Nurse is required.
- Referrals to Ellen Barron Family Centre may be made if further support is needed and to other support services as required.
- The Early Parenting service is by referral only and for infants under 6 months of age.

- Psychosocial history current and previous (i.e. parent/ carer health history, including mental health, domestic family violence, substance use)
- Other stakeholder support (i.e. GP, NDIS, NGO, PNMH, Child Safety)
