Mental Health Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS)/ Queensland Police Service (QPS) Co-responder Service

Who we are   

The Mental Health QPS Co-responder Service is a collaboration between Gold Coast QPS and Gold Coast Mental Health Services.  

The Mental Health QAS Co-responder Service is a collaboration between Gold Coast QAS and Gold Coast Mental Health Services.   

Both services respond to people experiencing a mental health-related crisis on the Gold Coast. 

What we do   

The Mental Health QPS and QAS Co-responder Services pairs mental health clinicians with emergency response services to provide timely, cross agency, on-site mental health assessment and early intervention in the community and is an alternative pathway option for individuals experiencing mental health crisis. 

Who can access this service?   

Individuals within the Gold Coast region, of all ages can access the service.  

How to access this service 

Emergency Services QAS and QPS, in conjunction with an Acute Care Team (ACT) Mental Health co-responder clinician, will identify emergency ‘calls for service’, that are appropriate for co-responder service.  

The QAS Co-responder Service operates every afternoon of the week. 

The QPS Co-responder Service operates five afternoons per week, from Wednesday to Sunday. 

Services are provided across the Gold Coast region.
