Are you referring to the right service?

  • Adult patients with spinal cord damage from traumatic and non-traumatic causes, experiencing complications directly related to their spinal cord injury
  • Assistance in planning for procedures for patients with Spinal Cord Injury
  • Recurrent skin areas of concern
  • Bladder management education
  • Bowel management education
  • Changes in or concerns with functional ability, transfers, mobility and activities of daily living, or with use of equipment
  • Improvement or non-emergent worsening of functional ability, strength, sensation, pain or deconditioning
  • Consideration of further rehabilitation as inpatient or outpatient
  • Concerns or changes in use of equipment such as wheelchairs, ADL equipment, urinary catheters
  • Assistance establishing community supports or linking to Queensland Spinal Cord Injury Service
  • Assistance negotiating transitions in life stages, lifestyle, parenthood, aging or accommodation (for example, transition to Specialist Disability Accommodation, Supported Independent Living or Residential Aged Care)

Out of Scope Services

The following conditions are out of scope for this service:

  • Under the age of 16 years
  • Routine urinary catheter care/changes

Out of Catchment

Gold Coast Health is responsible for providing public health services to the people who reside within its boundaries. Special consideration is made for patients requiring tertiary services or for services that are not provided by their local hospital and health service district. If your patient lives outside the Gold Coast Health catchment area and you wish to refer them to one of our services, please indicate relevant medical or social information that will assist with the processing of your referral.
