Please consider pertussis when reviewing children with a paroxysmal cough. Despite low case numbers (10) this year compared to pre-COVID years, there have been more cases this year than in 2021 and 2022.

Cases of pertussis should be excluded from school until they have received either 5 days of appropriate antibiotic treatment, or for 21 days from the onset of coughing.

Vaccinations should be maintained according to the National Immunisation Program Schedule for the best possible protection.
