In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gold Coast Heath introduced some service changes across outpatient clinics. In line with the recent decision to return to business as usual, Gold Coast Health has recommenced accepting Category 2 and 3 referrals for New South Wales residents.

This applies to specialties or services where Category 2 and 3 referrals from NSW residents were previously accepted and where there is no service available in Northern NSW for patients to access the specialist advice and treatment. Referrals will be processed as a new referral from the date they are received.

Category 2 and 3 Referrals for NSW Residents

Queensland based GPs using Smart Referrals can now refer patients with a NSW address to Gold Coast Health for outpatient services where there is no service available in Northern NSW for patients to access the specialist advice and treatment.
