From Monday 24th April, internal referrals made between departments at Gold Coast Health must be urgent (Category 1) to be accepted.

Patients with less urgent conditions (Category 2 or 3) will now be advised to see their GP for assessment and to determine appropriate management.

This may mean patients will present to you with a letter from the hospital indicating their referral has not be accepted.

Gold Coast Health clinicians are advised to provide clinical handover to GPs regarding any ongoing follow up required.

Should you have any queries regarding non-accepted internal referrals please contact our GP Liaison Unit .
