The Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Unit is now offering combined first trimester screening (CFTS) for aneuploidy and pre-eclampsia screening for pregnant women planning for delivery at GCUH.

This service is bulk-billed for women with a Medicare entitlement.

The referral should be sent as early as possible to ensure the patient can be booked for a test at 12-13+6 weeks (ideally at 13 weeks).

Gold Coast Health will schedule the scan and can arrange for the bloods to be collected at a Queensland pathology site.

After the nuchal translucency scan and combined screening, all women will be counselled by the team of MFM Consultants and then returned to your care.

Referrals should be addressed to Dr David Ellwood and can be made through the usual channels or can be faxed to 5687 5696.

GPs should still refer for antenatal care via the usual method.
